Crooked Lines

Lost again

Seeking faith

In those complicated spaces dubbed as "fate"

Don't understand

Why this way?

Will my demand to know be swept away?

And any path I take He will remind

My troubled mind

Mhmmmmm

No matter how this crazy life unwinds

My Savior's showing me

He draws straight

With crooked lines

And when I fall

When pain invades

Anger is a choice, I'm swept away

Renew again

Seek Your face

In those contemplative spaces

Bring Your rain

And any path I take He will remind

My troubled mind

Mhmmmmm

No matter how this crazy life unwinds

My Savior's showing me

He draws straight

With crooked lines

No matter how this crazy life unwinds

My Savior's showing me

He draws straight

"I wrote this song about three months before my sister took her life.  A dear friend, who is a Priest, shared a quote from (then) Mother Teresa.  I told him I was going to write a song about that quote, and I did, that very evening.

My sister loved the song. It felt hopeful.

Our family never could have known that three months after I penned this song we'd be faced with the most turbulent storm any of us had ever faced.

Clinging to faith that God can make use of this tragedy and enable us to reach others through it, has been paramount in our survival.

Indeed, in the words of St. Teresa, "God draws straight with crooked lines."
