ARTISTS, STORY and LYRICS

THE SUMMER REPLACEMENTS are a free-floating collective that serves as the house band for "No Name & A Bag O' Chips", NYC's longest-running comedy/variety show. Founding members Alex "The Assassin" de Suze (drums) and Carl "Babyfreak" Fortunato (keyboards) began as coverage for No Name's first house band when they took a summer hiatus, hence the name. As time went on, they became the permanent house band, and they were soon joined by bassist, Fernando "Dr. Sandman" Morales Gonzalez. Today, the regular rhythm section is rounded out by "King Of The Hill" Courtney Hill on guitar. This album marks the 1st time they've recorded as a band.

SONG

ABOUT "DUST TO DUST" (Written by the songwriter, Eric Vetter)

"January 2018, I joined a writers' group. Members committed to trying to write one song per week for a year. A month in, dear Jeannine ended her life. Somehow, I didn't miss the week.

Maybe 5 months in, on deadline night, I hit the wall; the wall hit back. I came up dry in a week I'd been especially missing her.  At 2 AM, exasperated, I raised the white flag. I put my book away, and began angrily yelling at Jeannine for making this so hard. (It takes more than death to get me to stop talking to you.)

As we talked, it occurred to me that a huge part of loving someone is forgiveness. It also occurred to me that I'd not forgiven her. So, I forgave her. We cried.

I picked my book up, and by 3 AM, I'd written and recorded the 1st version of "Dust to Dust"."

"Dust To Dust"

If your dreams have turned to dust

Take your leave now, if you must

Keep your faith, and keep your trust

I will love you, dust to dust

Forgive, forget, it's all the same

Keep walking to the light

Sometimes you've got to hope the day

Sometimes you hope the night

Sometimes a day can lose all hope

Sometimes ain't nothing left

Sometimes you figure leaving town

Would leave no one bereft

If your dreams have turned to dust

Take your leave now, if you must

Keep your faith, and keep your trust

I will love you, dust to dust

But since you choose to leave the room

I will not hold you down

Too easily some may presume

You chose to wear a frown

But broken lives are rarely earned

Some folks don't know the cost

I understand because I know

The pain of what you've lost

*musical break*

If your dreams have turned to dust

Take your leave now, if you must

Keep your faith, and keep your trust

I will love you, dust to dust

If your dreams have turned to dust

Take your leave now, if you must

Keep your faith, and keep your trust

I will love you

To Eric from Linda-Thank you for this amazing contribution and for teaching me that forgiveness is so important, and it's possible, even when someone we love so dearly does somethings so heartbreaking and painful.
