Rewind was written out of the depths of my broken heart.  It came to me quickly, as songs often do.  It's frequently as if someone were singing a song to me I had never heard before. This was written on June 15, 2018.  That was just over 4 months after my sister took her life. I think everyone experiencing grief, of any kind, can relate to the wish in the heart to "Rewind." But the song lands with hopeful acceptance and a broken heart bending to faith.

Can I rewind?

Can I turn back the time?

I want to be together

I want to make you stay

I want to make it better

And take the pain away

Cause you were

So many things

So much laughter

And love you’d bring

We miss you

Can you hear me sing?

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

If we could just if we could just rewind

Can’t see

How it could be

Rain hides

These tears I cry

I know my prayers still matter

I trust you’re loved and safe

I’ll do my best without you

But I’ll miss you every day

Cause you were

So many things

So much laughter

And love you’d bring

We miss you

Can you hear me sing?

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

If we could just if we could just rewind

Acceptance doesn’t have to be a fight

Who am I to say?

Who am I to say?

 Who am I to say….

What would make it right?

Because you were

 So many, many things

So much laughter

 And love you’d bring

We miss you

Can you hear me sing?

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

I know that we’d be fine

If we could just if we could just rewind

If we could just if we could just rewind
