Never You Mind

This song came to me at about 3am, shortly after my sister took her life.  I honestly felt she was singing it to me.

I'd never heard it before.  It was lovely, and I had to grab my phone and sing what I was hearing. lest I forget this beautiful lullaby that I believe came straight from Heaven.

Scott Pines are known for their duration through adverse conditions.  They also help the vegetation around them, through all of their struggles.

Like those beautiful trees that flourish in a part of the world she held dear, she helps us to flourish even though her own pains took her away from us physically.

I believe her spirit lives on. I feel her love. I feel her heart telling me to ignore the voices of doubt, fear, anger and hate.

I hear her telling me to sing, always and to disregard anyone suggesting I should hush the feelings that pour from my heart.

Feelings of loss, of pain, of love and of gratitude for having the best, most amazing sister.A sister who would want me to soldier on and spread awarnesss and love everywhere I go.

From the mountains of Mourne

Her faith was born

With more shades of green

Than a heart’s ever seen

North County Claire

Picture her there

Twelve Pins abound

Water glass ground

So lay all your weary down

At the feet of this silent town

And if hearts should seem unkind

Never you mind

Never you mind

Bring what you have to bring

Lift up your voice and sing

To whispers of “hush-a-bye”

Never you mind

Never you mind

The roots of the pines

Are strong and they’re kind

Like she they will tend

And brokenness mend

Reach towards the sky

Sun shining high

Nightly long fires

And angels in choirs

So lay all your weary down

At the feet of this silent town

And if hearts should seem unkind

Never you mind

Never you mind

Bring what you have to bring

Lift up your voice and sing

To whispers of “hush-a-bye”

Never you mind

Never you mind
